Upstairs
The house was originally built as a 1 story residence. Like most houses of this type in Madison, a second story was added sometime in the middle of the last century. There are few signs, however, that this was not part of the original design. The staircase is standard size and looks like it was always there. And when you are upstairs, only the dormered roof gives any indication that this is an addition. This part of the house contains 2 bedrooms, a full bath with tub and shower, central hall (library) and small office. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans.
There is a separate central AC/Heating system with an automatic setback thermostat which controls the second floor. And in the central hall, which we use as a small library, there is a "whole house" fan which will bring fresh air into the house in minutes.
Library
Front Bedroom
This bedroom overlooks the front of the house and is very large. It runs the width of the house and has a double dormer. There is a large closet at one end of the room.
Rear Bedroom
This third bedroom actually is on the wide of the house and, while it is good-sized, it is somewhat smaller than the front bedroom. It, too, has a double dormer and closet.
Office/Sewing Room
There's nothing much to say about this small room other than it is a perfect hideaway for working or reading. There is an outlet for high speed internet as well as television. There is also a small bookcase recess.
Bath
The bath has a tub and shower and double basins. A double window provides a great deal of natural light.
